Member Movie Night

 

We are always grateful for the ongoing support of our members! In this spirit of appreciation, we have planned a week of FREE activities and offerings to celebrate our members. Each day spotlights a unique way that Olbrich Gardens enriches our community.

Members can also enter to win a prize drawing for each day they visit during Member Appreciation Week. A winner will be selected at random at the end of the day (Sunday's winner will be drawn Monday morning). Prizes must be picked up at the Gardens. Daily prize descriptions are listed below.

Sunday, August 21, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

GIFT SHOP: SPIN-TO-WIN!

Members can visit the Gift Shop and spin a wheel to win prizes or extra discounts!

DAILY PRIZE: Enter to win a unique Olbrich Botanical Gardens tote bag filled with Olbrich branded goodies from the Gift Shop.

Monday, August 22, 9 - 11 a.m.

CHILDREN'S KITCHEN GARDEN: MARKET DAY

Members get early access to the outdoor gardens starting at 9 a.m. with activities inspired by the Children's Kitchen Garden! Decorate your own market tote, taste the season's harvest from the Children's Kitchen Garden, play games, and learn more about our amazing youth and family programs. Members of all ages welcome to this family event.

DAILY PRIZE: Enter to win a pair of activity packs - one adult/young adult pack and one child's pack. These packs include everything needed for an outdoor adventure including butterfly nets, garden trowels, seed packets, pollinator booklets, magnifiers, nature journals, activities, and more!

Tuesday, August 23, 6:30 - 8 p.m.

OUTDOOR GARDENS: MEMBER CONCERT

Create art using natural materials from the outdoor gardens. Leaves and petals will be your paint and a smooth rock will be your brush during this fun leaf pounding activity! Watch the sunset in the Gardens while enjoying a concert on the Great Lawn featuring Seasaw, a duo based in Madison comprised of Meg Golz (drums, synth, vocals) and Eve Wilczewski (guitar, vocals). Seasaw's music is the product of two best friends continually exploring all of the ways they can construct a singular, sarcastic indie rock sound.

  • Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and concert starts at 7 p.m.
  • Bring your own lawn chair or blanket seating
  • Carry-in picnics and beverages are allowed

DAILY PRIZE: Enter to win a new STIHL battery powered leaf blower. Olbrich horticulturists and volunteers use this same leaf blower in the Gardens and recommend it because it is lightweight, powerful, and produces zero exhaust emissions!

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 24, 10 a.m. - Noon

LEARNING CENTER: HERB CELEBRATION

Members are welcome to attend an Herb Celebration in the Frautschi Family Learning Center and Herb Garden. Come sample herbal treats, participate in the herb book swap, pot up your own scented geranium, tour the herb garden, and meet Susan Betz, author of Herbal Houseplants and Neighboring with Nature: Native Herbs for Purpose and Pleasure.

DAILY PRIZE: Enter to win an herbal gift bag that includes autographed copies of Susan Betz's books, herb seeds from Seed Savers, a Fiskars trowel, plant markers, and more!

Thursday, August 25, 9-10 a.m.

CONSERVATORY: TROPICAL SUNRISE

Members get early access to the Bolz Conservatory. Drink an iced coffee and taste treats made from tropical ingredients while you stroll. Have a go at feeding the koi fish and hand pollinating rainforest plants.

DAILY PRIZE: Enter to win a potted Satin Leaf Philodendron (Philodendron gloriosum) from the Conservatory's plant collection. The plant will come in 6" terra cotta pot.

Friday, August 26, 6:30 - 9:30 p.m.

MEMBER MOVIE NIGHT: THE SECRET GARDEN

Enjoy a movie under the stars on the Great Lawn. This year's member movie night features A Secret Garden (2020).

"The Secret Garden (PG) starring Colin Firth, Julie Walters and Dixie Egerickx is a new take on the beloved classic novel of the same name written by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Set in England during a new time period in 1947, the film follows a young orphan girl who, after being sent to live with her uncle, discovers a magical garden on the grounds of the estate."

  • Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and movie starts at 7:30 p.m.
  • Bring your own lawn chair or blanket seating
  • Complimentary popcorn (while supplies last)
  • GLEAM viewing!
  • In the event of rain, the movie will be shown in Olbrich's Learning Center
