Bolz Conservatory Closed March 11 - June 14, 2024 for Maintenance

The Bolz Conservatory is currently undergoing its first major closure for maintenance since it opened in November 1991. The indoor tropical garden is scheduled to be closed from March 11 - June 14, 2024 for assessments and potential repairs of structural components like glass panels, metal framing, and the foundation. In particular, seals on panels will be checked for leaks, and framing will be inspected for water damage and rust. The assessment results will inform the planning, scale, and order of priority of any needed repairs.

While we’ll miss welcoming guests into the conservatory this spring, the closure will serve as an investment in the structure’s future, helping to prepare it for its next decades of serving the community as well as visitors from throughout the US and beyond.

Our 16-acre outdoor gardens will remain open during the conservatory closure, and our Spring Flower Show runs March 2 - 24 to offer guests a first glimpse of spring color.

A City of Madison Engineering project page will be coming soon as a way to stay up-to-date on project details and milestones.
