Current Art Exhibit
rituals and meditations
September 28, 2008 - January 4, 2009
Join artist Richard Bolingbroke to discover the paradoxical beauty of imagination balancing convention at Olbrich Botanical Gardens in his watercolor exhibit titled, Rituals and Meditations, from September 28 through January 4. The exhibit is open on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5
p.m.
The nature-inspired paintings in this collection are the results of a ritualistic process by Bolinbroke who developed each painting from a personal object such as throns from a Black Locust tree. Through these paintings Bolingbroke discovered that real beauty is a striking and disturbing balance of opposites. According to Bolingbroke, "Beauty has to be both yin and yang, both light and dark, both life and death, both stability and motion, both emptiness and fullness, both black and white for there to be a real and honest expression of beauty."
